Walter Eugene Wyman, 82 of South Haven, Michigan, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born April 19, 1940 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he was the son of the late Claude and Marie (Ward) Wyman and the husband of Florence (Jones). Walter was a true outdoorsman. Spending time in his yard, gardening or working the land with his tractor, kept him occupied and feeling accomplished. Hunting, especially coon hunting with his dogs, brought Walter much joy. His dogs were very special to him and being out in nature, doing what he loved, made his days brighter. Being gifted at so many things, Walter loved spending time with his family and teaching them his trades, or just enjoying a great cookout together. The annual Wyman fish fry was a welcome event enjoyed by family and friends. Walter always felt that his true legacy was his family, so teaching them and sharing his knowledge with them, he knew that they would be well equipped for life. His caring nature and fun-loving spirit leave a big void in their lives.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Florence Wyman; his children, Nita (Tom) Lowe, Joe (Sharon) Wyman, Mark Wyman, Tina Hicks, Sandra Wyman, Jay (Trish) Wyman, Waylon Wyman, and Michelle (Eric) Nitz; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Wyman; stepchildren, Peggy (Willis) Peachey, Robert (Sandy) Giffen, Donna Seaver, Sherri Robinson; brother, Claude Wyman; sister, Sharon (Bill) Cuchinski; 25 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Wanda Sue Wyman; son, Jesse Wyman; and several siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s name to Caring Circle Hospice (05055 Blue Star Hwy, South Haven, MI 49090) or the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704
Hagerstown, MD 21741). The family wishes to thank Caring Circle Hospice for the compassionate care given to Walter when it was most needed.
A Celebration of Life is being planned at the family home for Sunday, April 16th @ 2pm.
