Thomas Latchaw Sr. Obituary

Thomas Brian Latchaw Sr., aged 62, of Pullman, MI, passed away suddenly on February 27, 2024. Born on July 17, 1961, in Allegan, MI, he was the cherished son of the late George and Barbara (Koerner) Latchaw and brother to the late George Latchaw. Thomas's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of a man who dedicated himself to his family, his farm, and his community.

Thomas is survived by his significant other Regina Vernon and loving children: April Manikham and her husband David, Christine (Shawn) Sisson, Thomas Jr. and his wife Amber, Sara Cullum, Steven Cullum, and Justin Cullum; and 23 grandchildren; Justine, Dakota, Alic, Alexis, Kyle S., Morgan, Kyle M., Joseph, Maddison, Wyatt, Kamren, Hillary, Ariel, Aydian, Kailee, Kielee, Audrey, Mason, Breanna, Catlynn, Hannah, Dalton, Justin Jr., and Braden. He also leaves behind his siblings: Barbara (Leister) Perrin, Judy Latchaw, Deborah Saintz, Ruth (Michael) Zurosk and Great Grandchildren; Brooklynn, Leah, and Ella. Each family member was a source of immense pride and joy for Thomas, and he often said that his greatest legacy was the love and laughter they shared.

A lifelong farmer, Thomas's hands were rarely still, as he worked tirelessly on the family farm that had been his lifelong passion and livelihood. He was well-known in the Pullman community, not just for the fruits of his labor, but for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand. His handy skills were as much a part of him as his gentle smile, and both will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Thomas's interests went beyond the fields and the changing seasons. Tom enjoyed coffee and breakfast in Grand Junction and at the Northwoods Café before they closed. His love for antiques, the FlyWheelers show, Farmers markets, and auctions was a testament to who Tom was. Tom never met a stranger and was a very blunt and honest friend. He loved his large family fiercely and took great pleasure in the simple joys of life: the satisfaction of a job well done, and the company of good friends and neighbors. His presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those he touched, and his absence will be felt acutely by many.

As we bid farewell to Thomas Brian Latchaw Sr., we reflect on a life well-lived, a community bettered by his presence, and a family fortified by his love. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told, the lessons learned, and the love he gave so freely. Thomas's life was a beacon of what it means to care deeply for one's family and community, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
