Lionel Dale Bush

Lionel Dale Bush, 95, of Williamston, MI and formerly of Fennville, MI passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.  Born February 10, 1928 in Holland, MI he was the son of the late William and Bessie (Fisher) Bush.  Dale was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Elaine (Dill) Bush; Grandchildren, Phoebe Bush, Ronan Bush and his sister, Nancy Looman.

Dale served honorably in the United States Army before finishing his education and then worked for many years as an educator before finally retiring.  Following retirement, he was able to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden.  Dale also liked to travel and see the world whenever he was able.  He loved family gatherings, especially when there was pie, and sharing a laugh with those who were dear to him.  Dale was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed. 

Dale is survived by his wife, Jane White; his children, Peggy Lynne (Rodney) Meli, David William Bush and Chris (Kim Anderson) Bush; siblings, Dick (Bobbi) Bush, JoAnn Moore and Sally Joostberns; and five grandchildren, Brenda Strubel, Wendy Meli, Katelyn Bush, Samantha Bush and Simon Bush.

Visitation will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5589 Van Atta Road, Haslett, MI, on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service.  Dale will be laid to rest in Fennville Cemetery on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the Bush family with arrangements.
