Glenda Fleming Obituary

Glenda Sue (Liles) Fleming

April 30, 1939 – May 2, 2023

Glenda Sue (Liles) Fleming of Fennville, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Glenda was born to the late Harvey and Nora (Martin) Liles on April 30, 1939, in Drasco, Arkansas. Glenda would move to Michigan where she would meet the love of her life Larry Fleming. Together Larry and Glenda would marry on November 16, 1957, and share over 65 years of faithful marriage together on their 140-acre farm. On the farm they would raise four wonderful, hard-working children and instill lifelong values of self-sufficiency. Being able to bake, cook, butcher, grow vegetables, and take care of the farm gave the family freedom and experience that gave each child the tools of success as they grew up. Glenda was a wonderful, caring, and nurturing mother, always taking care of her family and friends. She was famous for her yeast rolls, and when they came out of the oven, everyone came running. Another found memory is Larry and Glenda making caramel corn during Christmas for all the kids and their grandkids. Glenda and Larry would also take time away from the farm to travel to places like Hawaii, Alaska, and go on cruises in the Caribbean. Her most important skill was reading and drawing closer to Jesus, spending time every day in the Bible and praying over her family. Glenda was an experienced quilter and would spend hours crafting beautiful quilts for her friends, family, and community. She was a member of the Grand Rapids Quilt Guild for over 10 years and many people have been gifted one of her quilts. She also enjoyed counted cross stitch patterns and making wall hangings. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, compassion, and faith that should be reflected in our own life.

Glenda is survived by her husband Larry Fleming; children Donna (John) Kluck, Kelly (Christine) Fleming, and Cary (Chris) Fleming; siblings Loretta Lacy and Shirley Powers; grandchildren; Melissa Curtis, Steven Kluck, Justin Fleming, Brandon Fleming, Abeni DeNeff, Joseph Fleming, Katie Fleming, and Andrew Fleming; great-grandchildren; Oliver, Owen, Jonah and Hudson.

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Nora (Martin) Liles; son Perry Fleming, and siblings Lavern Lacy, Horton Liles, and Linda Logan.

There will be a public graveside service on Friday, May 5, 2023 in Pearl Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
