Christina Suzann VanOrder, 50 of Hamilton, Michigan, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born March 12, 1973 in Marion, Indiana, she was the daughter of Stanley and Carolyn (Wolfgang) Lewis and the wife of Matthew James VanOrder. Having grown up on the mission fields of Africa, Christina had a lifelong heart for missions and went on numerous mission trips in high school and college. After graduating high school, Christina attended Indiana Wesleyan University, where she met and married her husband and earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. This profession served her well as she used her medical knowledge to help her patients, family and friends alike. In an effort to be able to help people in as many ways as possible, she spent a great deal of time researching holistic and alternative types of medicine. This earned her the moniker of Crunchy Nurse, which she wholeheartedly embraced. One of her other great passions in life was homeschooling. She worked tirelessly to give her four children a well-rounded faith-based education. Christina was adored by her husband of 27 years, their children and her entire extended family. There wasn’t a stranger she couldn’t turn into a friend within minutes. Her naturally positive disposition combined with her calm demeanor allowed her to share the love of Jesus with those she came in contact with and counseled. She is already and will continue to be deeply missed.
Along with her loving husband Matt, Christina is survived by her four children, Sara, Carter, Brandon, and Joshua; her parents, Stanley and Carolyn Lewis; and her brother Stephen Lewis.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 27th at 1:00 PM at Family Church, located at 9530 Woodbridge St, Zeeland, MI 49464.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Christina’s name to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423.
