Benito Carlos Fernandez Vazquez

Benito Carlos Fernandez Vazquez, 67, of Fennville, MI passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Born April 30, 1955 in Tlaxcala, Mexico, he was the son of the late Jesus Fernandez Vazquez and the late Adelfa Estefania Vazquez Garcia.  Benito was the husband of Serafina Martha Erazo.  They spent more than fifty years together raising their family and caring for one another.  Benito was always attentive to Serafina and always knew exactly what she needed.  He was the best dad and grandpa that anyone could ask for.  He ensured that his children would grow up to be independent and self-supporting by teaching them everything he could from changing oil to cleaning out the gutters.  Benito never wanted them to have to rely on someone else.  Even into retirement he insisted that he be allowed to care for his young grandsons from just a few months old until they were ready for school because, as he told his girls, no one would be able to raise them the right way like him!

In addition to his wife, Serafina, Benito is survived by his children, Jessica (Leodan) Morales, Benito Adrian Fernandez and Roxana Viviana Fernandez; siblings, Roberto, Isidoro, Sergio, Hilario, Atalo, Felicitas, Joseluis and Arcenia; and his grandchildren, Liam Fernandez, Felix Morales and Adan Morales.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alejandro and Antonio.

The family will receive friends at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 PM.
