Barbara Ann Schalte (Bradow), a woman of great strength, love, and devotion, passed away on October 10, 2023, in Holland, Michigan. Born on November 5, 1934, in Rogers City, Michigan, Barbara was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and compassion to all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Fern Bradow, and her loving husband, Joseph Schalte, her daughter Julie, and her son John. Barbara's legacy lives on through her resilient spirit and the love she cultivated within her family. She is survived by her sons, Joseph (Danita) Schalte and Jim Schalte. Barbara's joy was amplified through her grandchildren, of which she had 10, and her great-grandchildren, of which she had 17. She was a matriarch in the truest sense of the word, providing guidance, support, and unending love to her family.
Barbara was known for her famous fudge. She was always baking fudge and loved giving it to all the family. She found solace and adventure in the pages of books, and her love for reading was a passion. But perhaps Barbara's greatest joy was found in her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
For 64 years, Barbara was a devoted wife to her husband, Joseph. They enjoyed many retirement years in Arizona. Their love story was one of mutual respect, unwavering support, and enduring love. Their relationship was a testament to their commitment to each other, and it served as an inspiring example for their children and grandchildren.
Barbara's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and family. She will be remembered for her strength and independence, her kind heart, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering love for her family. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration for those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Barbara Ann Schalte (Bradow) will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the love and memories she has left behind.
