Wincie Fay Wells, 88, of Fennville, MI passed away at her home on Friday, February 21, 2020 with her family at her side. Born February 18, 1932 in Drasco, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Clint Augustus and Selma (Thomas) McCarty. She married Theo Wells on October 9, 1948 in Heber Springs, Arkansas and they enjoyed sixty-eight years of marriage prior to his death in 2016. Mrs. Wells had retired from Fennville Public School System where she had worked as a custodian for many years. She was a longtime member of Lacota General Baptist Church. Mrs. Wells was an excellent cook and was famous for her chocolate gravy with homemade biscuits. It was well known to her family and friends that you would never leave her home hungry. She also loved gardening, canning fruits and vegetables and creating beautiful quilts. Above all else, though, Mrs. Wells loved being with and caring for her family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother; as well as a dear and trusted friend to many. She is survived by her children, James Wells, Peggy Sue O'Neal and Cindy (Ed) Long; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine Clark and Evalena Wells; and her brother, Claud McCarty. The family will receive friends at Chappell Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ron Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Cemetery.
