William K. Sargent, age 73, of Fennville, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Hospice House in Holland. Born April 20, 1940 in Ganges Township, he was the son of Charles and Cora Ann (Hadaway) Sargent. Bill was a US Navy veteran, and worked as a machinist at Rockwell International in Allegan till his retirement in 1992. Bill lived in and farmed in Ganges Township all his life, his family, and farming were a very important part of his life. Surviving is his wife of 52 years Arlene (Bellenger) Sargent, children; Tammy and Doug McKeever of Holland, Terry Sargent of Great Falls Montana, Sherry and Mike Windisch of Zeeland, eight grandchildren nine great-grandchildren, sisters Marjorie and Vernon Hjelden of Grove, Oklahoma, Linda Sargent and Bill Morgan of Dorr, Michigan, Nancy and Larry Figgins of Centreville, Virginia, and brother Howard Sargent of Grove, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014, with visitation Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, Michigan. Officiating will be Ms. Marcia Tucker, and burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, Ganges Township, Allegan County, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
