Velia Herrera, 67 of Holland, Michigan, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Holland, Michigan. Born August 16, 1954 in La Feria, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Alfredo and Eluteria (Garza) Herrera and the wife of Victor E. Gutierrez. Velia was a wonderful and caring woman who put her family first. Being a grandmother was the highlight of her life. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her much joy and always made her days brighter. When Velia had free time, she enjoyed baking and making beautiful necklaces for herself, family and friends. She had a knack for making others feel loved. Her generous spirit is already greatly missed. Velia is survived by her loving husband, Victor; her two daughters, Sarah Herrera and McKenna Brooks; one son, Victor Gutierrez, Jr.; two sisters, Maria J. Lopez and Dora Gonzales; three grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ramon Herrera, Juan Herrera and Antonio Herrera. Friends may meet with the family at Chappell Funeral Home on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, at which time the funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Velia will be laid to rest in the Fennville City Cemetery. Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Service Details.
