Thomas Richard Sowers, 75 of Fennville, Michigan, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Holland Hospital. Born February 21, 1946 in Garfield, Park, Illinois, he was the son of the late Richard and Frances (Brudnicki) Sowers and the husband of Melanie (Emerick) Sowers. Thomas spent over 40 years working in maintenance for MDOT. He and Melanie were blessed to be able to travel for over 30 years, investigating different areas of the United States. They especially loved traveling up north to Mackinac Island every year during the summer, staying on the island and just enjoying their time together and the beautiful sites around them. When time permitted, Thomas had a great time going to coin shows and antique shows, seeing all the different kinds and styles of items. Over the years, Thomas and Melanie loved the chance to go to casinos and test their luck - of course, not usually that lucky but always having fun! Time spent together was the most precious though. Their adventures in traveling and just being together made their lives special. The memories that they created will be treasured. Thomas is survived by his wife, Melanie, and his sister, Candace (Stanley) Emerick. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chappell Funeral Home, small graveside service to follow at 1:30 pm for all that would like to attend. The family would request that masks be worn during the visitation and service to ensure everyone stays healthy. Thomas will be laid to rest in the Fennville Cemetery, Manlius Township. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Thomas' name to any animal shelter. He had a genuine love and caring for all animals, especially dogs and cats, and hopes people would consider enriching their lives. Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
