Obituary

Theresa Anne (Nolan) Pitts, born October 22, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Thomas and Priscilla Nolan, passed away peacefully at home on September 12th, 2023, at the age of 65.  Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Theresa was a loved member of her family and the community for opening her heart and home, not only to family and friends of her children, but also others in need. She was a model of unconditional love, unbridled wit, and non-judgmental realism.

She devoted most of her time to raising her children and then her grandchildren became her whole world.  She loved to bake, garden, make soups, craft with her grandkids and sing karaoke. Theresa loved hanging out with family and holidays were her favorite.  You could also always count on being the victim of one of her many practical jokes or pranks on any given day!  Everyone knew she was nearby when she would discreetly impersonate the Woody Woodpecker's laugh.  She loved bargain shopping for stuff she didn't need, but someone else might need.

Theresa was the definition of a dedicated homemaker and mother.  She put her family above all else and could always be counted on to attend her children's countless events.  Her home was always warm, welcoming, and filled with fun and laughter.

As her family grew to include fourteen grandchildren, Theresa's role as "Nana" brought her immense pride and happiness.  She attended every possible sports event, dance recital, concert, and birthday party to cheer them on and celebrate how amazing they are.   It was important for her grandchildren to know how important they were to her, and they will cherish the memories of grandma cheering them on.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Clifton Earl Pitts; Children:  Tim (Amy) Pitts, Nicole George (TJ Sanchez), and Ashley (Martell) Peoples; Grandchildren:  Sarah Pitts, Emily Pitts, Colin Pitts, Camdin George, Cadin George, Isaiah Peoples, Zoie Peoples.  Step Grandchildren:  Treyvon, Ajanni, Innaja, Andreas, Kamry, and Emily.  Great grandchild:  Jaylynn.   Siblings: Lawrence (Pamela) Nolan, Patrick (Linda) Nolan, Rita Blankenship, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Priscilla Nolan. Siblings: Thomas Nolan and Michael Nolan, Brother-in-Law, Ronald Blankenship.

She was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her gracious and hilarious heart and soul. Theresa will be deeply missed but her legacy of creating cherished family memories and forever being the one to count on. Theresa's spirit will live on through those who love and honor her and wish to live as she did.
