Shirley I. Onken, age 80 of Fennville, Michigan, passed away at her home on Monday, March 13, 2017. Born December 13, 1936 in Gainesboro, TN, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Flatt) Anderson. Shirley married her husband of 61 years, Ronald Onken, on February 11, 1956. She worked as the secretary to Superintendent of the Fennville Public Schools for 32 ½ years till her retirement. She was a member of the Pearl United Methodist Church, and lived in the Fennville area most of her life. Surviving is her husband Ronald, daughters; Kathy and Robert Jensen of South Haven, MI, Linda and George Thompson of Fennville, grandsons Brant Higgins, Christopher Higgins, Aaron Wightman, Shawn Thompson, Troy Thompson, five great-grandchildren, brother-in law John and Wendy Onken, of Austin, TX and two nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and a memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Barkholz and Ms. Marcia Tucker, with burial in the Fennville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made the Pearl United Methodist Church P.O.
