Obituary

Shirley Mae Steanburg, 88, of Fennville, MI passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 with family by her side.  Born August 17, 1936 in Fennville, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Helen Meyer.  Shirley graduated from Fennville High School in 1954.  In September 1955 she married Everett Higgins and they had three daughters together.  After the passing of Everett, Shirley later married Gerald Steanburg in February 1980 and they enjoyed twenty-five years together.  Shirley was a lifelong resident of Fennville.  She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom until her three children entered school.  She started to work at VanHartesvldt's Market in Fennville where she did everything from office work, cashier or packing produce.  Wherever she was needed, Shirley stepped in showing her strong work ethic.  After several years she later started at Country House Furniture in 1978 where she ran the Fennville location.  She was a familiar and friendly face to many, always greeting with a big smile and warm hello.  After retiring at the age of 62, if you wanted to see Shirley, you would find her and Gerald at Hutchins Lake where they shared a passion for fishing.  Shirley loved to be surrounded by her family and friends, opening her home to many.

Shirley is survived by her children, Pam (Dan) Schut and Peggy (Clyde) Covell; stepchildren, Rod (Helen) Steanburg and Jackie (Kevin) Metz; grandchildren, Ron (Carrie) Montgomery, Mike (Jenn) Mongomery, Heather (Eric) Rosencrans, Megan (Randy) Videtich, Jason Thompson and Melissa (Plez) Oliver; step-grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Middleton, Dan Steanburg, Shawn Bush and Linzy Bush; twelve great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.  Along with her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Don Moeller and Otto Meyer, Jr.; sister, Virginia (Sue) Eustathion; and her daughter, Debbie Duffey.
