Obituary

Robin Jewel Grotenhuis (Duke) blessed this world with her presence on March 13, 1970, in Muskegon, MI, and passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Holland, MI surrounded by her loving family. Robin leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an unwavering faith in the Lord, which brightened the hearts of everyone she encountered.

She is survived by her adoring parents, Monroe and Helen Duke, who nurtured her with love and compassion and instilled in her the importance of faith and family. Her husband, Douglas Grotenhuis, was her best friend, confidante and shared 11 beautiful years together, establishing a home filled with love and laughter. Robin had an unconditional love for her son, Jordan Vanbuskirk, whom she cherished and guided with gentle wisdom. Her sister, Regina Duke, shared an unforgettable childhood with Robin and remained her treasured friend throughout her life. Her nieces, Brittani Bouwman, Morgan Parmer and Sonja Johnson will miss her kind and gentle nature.

Robin's passion for life's simple pleasures was the essence of who she was. A true homebody at heart, she found contentment and joy within the walls of her home, where she created savory dishes for her loved ones. Known for her southern cooking, nothing brought her more satisfaction than preparing a home cooked meal for her family, particularly tomatoes and deep-fried okra. She had an adventurous taste for pickled delicacies.

A tender soul, who loved her pets. Especially her cat, who was her constant companion. Her fondness for seals was endearing, a testament to her gentle spirit and love for all of God's creatures.

Robin believed in Gods eternal plan, from which she drew strength and serenity. She will be remembered for her unfaltering devotion for her loved ones. Her life was a living example of – love, patience, and kindness. Robin Jewel Grotenhuis will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to shine in those who knew her best.

We find peace and comfort in knowing that Robin has been reunited with her Grandparents at the heavenly picnic table along with her son Dillon Monroe who also proceeded her in death.

Our heavenly father has orchestrated a special moment in Heaven where Robin and her son, are finally able to hear each other's voices and physically embrace for the first time, marking a deeply emotional reunion filled with love and peace beyond earthly limitations.

Robins' funeral will be at 1:00pm with a 2-hour visitation beforehand this Friday, October 11, 2024, at Chappell Funeral Home 637 West Main Street, Fennville, MI 49408. Interment to follow the service at Fennville City Cemetery.
