Robert & Phyllis McCracken Robert E. McCracken age 79, of Fennville, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at his home. Phyllis A. McCracken age 77, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kalamazoo. Robert was born on August 5, 1930 in Lawrence, Michigan, he was the son of Versel and Nina (Johnson) McCracken. Phyllis was born on November 19, 1932 in Bangor, MI, she was the daughter of Clark and Lena (Corbin) Crippen. Robert and Phyllis were married August 31, 1950, in Holland, MI, together they owned and operated the Stevens Hotel in Fennville, from 1955-1997. Active members of the Fennville community Robert was a former Fennville Fire Chief, and former Mayor of the City of Fennville, also a longtime member of the Fennville Rod and Gun Club, Phyllis was active with the Girl Scouts, and many other community events, and enjoyed many years of quilting. Surviving are their children; Gary and Mary McCracken of Fennville, Gail and Greg Spicer of Portage, MI, Rob and Toni McCracken of Fennville, Kirk and Rayong McCracken of Allegan, MI and Shawn McCracken of Fennville, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Robert's sister Mary Lou Jungel of Paw Paw, MI and brother Charles Moses of Lawrence, MI, sister-in-law Doris McCracken of Pullman, MI. Also many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by two brothers Mac and Jim McCracken, and Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister Coralyn Bartlett. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at the Chappell Funeral Home in Fennville, with Ms. Marcia Tucker officiating, visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to; The American Cancer Society, The Fennville District Library, or the Fennville Area Fire Department.
