Robert Paul Johnson, age 89, of Fennville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. He was born on March 14, 1920 in Pearl, Michigan to Nelsy and Mabel (Smith) Johnson. He was a member of the Rose Park Baptist Church in Holland. Robert was a onion farmer for many years in the Bravo area and also served in the Merchant Marines. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Kammeraad) Johnson of Fennville; daughter Mary and David Martin of Allegan; sons, Timothy and Pam Johnson of Fennville and R. Todd and Renee Johnson of Pullman, and 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-sons, Roger and Linda Kammeraad of Fennville, Ronald and Kim Kammeraad of Paw Paw, Norman and Karol Kammeraad of Hudsonville, and Mark and Judy Kammeraad of Kalkaska; 11 step-grandchildren, 4 great-step-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Cosgrove of Zeeland. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faith (Davis) Johnson (May 8, 1989) and a grandson, David Martin (Jan. 23, 2007). Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., with Pastor David Smith and Pastor Dale Byers officiating. Burial will be in Pearl Cemetery.
