Obituary

Robert E. Hoyt, 85, died on February 12, 2011 at South Haven Hospital. He was born on December 9, 1925 in Ganges Township to Edgar and Viola May (Depoty) Hoyt. Bob graduated from Fennville High School in 1945 before joining the U.S. Army 101st Air Borne Division in 1949 and the Michigan National Guard 126th Light Tank Unit. He worked for Michigan Fruit Canner's and retired from Everett Piano Factory after 36 years. Bob was also an auctioneer for over 30 years. On April 20, 1957 he married Alice Haynes. They belonged to the Bravo Christian Reformed Church. Bob enjoyed collecting stamps, researching family genealogy and working in his garden and on the farm. His family includes his children: Frederick (Renae) Hoyt of Jeffersonville, IN, Roger Hoyt of Fennville, Alicia Hoyt of Fennville and Debra Hoyt of Fennville; grandchildren: Tom Stanley, John Stanley, Kaylynn Soto and Kristie Owens; 4 great-grandchildren: Grace, Sara, and Jacob Stanley and Talan Owens. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice, his son William, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Hoyt, and his two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Dorothy Young. Friends may visit with his family on Tuesday, February 15, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI. His service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Bravo Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Pete DeHaan officiating. Burial will follow at the Plummerville Cemetery.
