Born on October 25, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Richard's life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his exceptional skills as a metal fabricator engineer.

Richard's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ruby, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure. Together, they raised a family that includes their children Barbara (Joseph) Borst, Lois (William) Beekman, Donna (Glenn) Smith, and Debra Sprouse. Richard was a proud grandfather to Joesph Theodore (Caitlyn) Borst, Richard Michael Borst, Lindsay Holman (Nate), Phillip Smith, Jonathan (Krista) Sprouse, and Jennifer (Luis) Tello. His joy was further multiplied by the presence of his ten beautiful great-grandchildren. Richard is also survived by his brothers, Robert Lee Smith and Carl DeWite Smith. He was predeceased by his daughter Glenda Smith, grandsons Patrick Borst and Christopher Smith, son-in-law James Sprouse, and siblings Barbara Skaggs, Charles Smith, and John David Smith.

Richard's career as a metal fabricator engineer was marked by his meticulous craftsmanship and innovative spirit. His colleagues recognized him as a man of integrity and dedication, whose contributions to the field were invaluable.
