Richard A. Leavell, 84, of Douglas, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he resided in the Douglas area for the past 20 years and was a retired principal, working in several Michigan school districts. He has also been a librarian. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ann; children, Eric and Ellen Leavell of New Jersey, Blair Leavell of Florida, Lucinda Leavell and Melissa Leavell of Chicago; and four grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. No visiting or services are planned. Memorials may be made to Evergreen Commons. Arrangements were by Chappell Funeral Home.
