Obituary

Richard Walter Bale, age 80 of Douglas, Michigan, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Grace of Douglas. Born May 29, 1934 in Fennville, Michigan, he was the son of Walter and Cynthia (Richards) Bale. Rich graduated from Fennville High School, was a US Army veteran and worked for GE in Holland for 34 years. Following his retirement Rich and Judy managed campgrounds in Florida and were managers of Saugatuck RV Resort for 25 years. He was a member of the Fennville Rod and Gun Club, and loved to fish, hunt, and spend time in the outdoors. Surviving is his wife Judy (Dewitt) Bale, children; Bill Bale (Laurie Schreiber), Mike Bale, Lisa Bale, Richard Bale Jr. (Laura Kaiser), step children Jeffery and Kurt Homkes, Julie (Greg) Engelsman, granddaughter Brandy Bale, step grandchildren Kurtis (Alyssa) Homkes, Eric Schippa, Cody and Olivia Engelsman, step great grandson Jagger Homkes, brother and sisters Clare Bale (Shirley Steanburg), Donita (John) Macdonald, Barbara (Mike) Garcia, Don and (Martie) Bale, David Bale, brother and sister in law Carl and Ruth Tidd, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville, Michigan. At his request cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2015. Memorial donations may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, Grace of Douglas, or Fennville Rod and Gun Club. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com
