Ray F. Fleming, age 97 of Tarpon Springs, Florida, formerly of Fennville, Michigan, died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Brookside Hospice House in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born August 29, 1913 in Allegan County, Michigan, he was the son of Frank and Nancy (Silcox) Fleming. A long time Fennville resident, Ray owned and operated Fleming's Collision Service in Fennville for 31 years. He was a lifetime member of the South Haven Elks. In 2005 Ray moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida with his brother Leon. Surviving are: his children, Ray Fleming Jr. of Sunrise Beach, Texas, Sharon and (Kenneth) Swathwood of Canadian Lakes, MI, and Joyce (Lawrence) Bennett of Cape Coral, Florida; nine grandchildren, Randy, Elizabeth, Matt, Michelle, Scott, Tricia, Michael, Dave, and Kelly; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Leon Fleming of Tarpon Springs, Florida; one sister, Elsie Bushee of Green Forest, Arkansas; and many loving nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife Beatrice (Galbreath) Fleming in 2005; and three brothers, Burt in 1975, Art in 2010, and Robert in 1945. At his request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:30 a. m., Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI. Officiating will be Ms. Marcia Tucker. Burial will be in the Fennville Cemetery.
