Phyllis Mae Clauss, age 70, of Valparaiso, Indiana, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at the hospice in Valparaiso. Born December 10, 1940, in Blue Island Illinois, she was the daughter of Felix and Mary (Hasier) Kowalski. Phyllis was a music teacher, working for the Merrillville Public Schools till her retirement in 2004. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Valparaiso. Surviving are her children, Mr. and Mrs. Darren Clauss of Valparaiso, and Mr. Daniel Clauss of Seattle, Washington, grandson, Dylan Clauss, sisters; Rita and Michael King of Grand Rapids, MI, and Carol and Robert Line of Kankakee, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peters Dr. Douglas, Michigan, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. till service time, at the church.
