Philip Edward Logsdon, age 85, of Holland, formerly of Glenn, MI, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Lifehouse in Holland, Michigan. Born July 21, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Joseph P. and Martha E. (Daugherty) Logsdon. When in his early 20's he was a proud member of the Illinois National Guard. On August 21, 1948 he married Betty (Hadaway) Logsdon. In 1952 they moved to the Glenn area, where he worked at Everett Piano Company in South Haven from 1952 to 1978. For a number of years after that, he owned and operated the machine shop, Hi-Line Machine. Philip is survived by his wife of 65 years Betty (Hadaway) Logsdon, son Mark Logsdon of Holland, daughter Kathleen and Ron Van Lente of Coloma, MI, grandchildren, Anne and Jacob Clarkson of Erie, PA, Daniel and Jessica Schoeneich of Benton Harbor, MI, great-grandchildren, Brennan, Andrew, and Lila Clarkson, Aiden Schoeneich, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI 49408 with visitation from 12:00 noon till service time. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Van Lente, and burial will be in the McDowell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, or Hospice of Holland.
