Nellie G. Whitaker, 81 of Pullman, died Sunday, July 11, 2004 in Kalamazoo. Born in Grays, Arkansas on March 9, 1923, to Andrew Pruett and Alice Jane Haney. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church of South Haven. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 2002. Surviving are her children, Sherman and Ginny Whitaker of Bellevue, William and Bette Whitaker of Kalamazoo, Bill and Terri Whitaker of Otsego, Arthur and Diane Whitaker of Pullman, Jane and James Spears of Pea Ridge Arkansas, Donnie Whitaker of Judsonia, Arkansas, Betty Ann and Jimmy Cullum of Searcy, Arkansas. Charles and Barbara Whitaker of Pullman, and Sue and Philip Magee of Kalamazoo, MI; 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday July 14, 2004, with Pastor Bill Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery Allegan County, MI. Visiting is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the funeral home.
