Milton J. Stappenbeck, age 86 of Fennville, MI passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at his residence. Milt was born on September 16, 1930 in Tarpon Springs, FL, to Carlos and Sarah (Parker) Stappenbeck. He was raised in Marrero, LA at an orphanage until the age 18 when he moved to Kalamazoo, MI. Milt proudly served his country as a member of the US Army with the 370th Engineer Amphibious Support Regiment during the Korean War. On August 22, 1959 he married Janet Kirchner. Milt worked in Kalamazoo before purchasing Fennville Thermogas in 1962, which he owned and operated for 28 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 30 years, earning the Eagle Scout Award and The Order of the Arrow. Milt was also a Life Member of the VFW and active in Ducks Unlimited. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Mark and David. Milt is survived by his daughter, Judy Skinner; grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Skinner, Krystalin Skinner (Toby Carpenter); great grandchildren; Chase, Ashton, Orion and Scout Skinner, Tru and Chance Carpenter; brother, Carl (Ruby) Stappenbeck. Visitation will be Monday, December 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with a funeral service being held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27 at Chappell Funeral Home.
