Obituary

Michael W. Leja, age 87, of Fennville, Michigan passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Hospice House in Holland. Born August 5, 1925 in Lemont Furnace, PA, he was the son of Jacob and Louise (Mazur) Leja. Michael married V. Evelyn Modrzejewski on June 19, 1948. He was a WW II Army veteran, and worked for the US Post Office at Metro Airport in Romulus, MI till his retirement in 1981. He lived in the Fennville area for many years and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Douglas. Surviving is his wife V. Evelyn Leja of Fennville, children; Phillip Leja of Northville, MI, Melanie and Donald Workman of Kentucky, Donna and John McNeil of Traverse City, MI, Lori and Jim VanKlompenberg of Allegan, MI, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother Joe Leja, sisters; Victoria Mahoney, Katheryn Wojtowicz, Teresa Lundy, and Veronica Tabaj. He was preceded in death by one son Michael J. Leja. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church Douglas with Fr. John Flynn officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery Saugatuck, MI.
