Mary Patricia "Pat" Vandenberg, age 83 of Holland, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her home. Born December 18, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Ralph and Pearl (Webster) Fortney. She met Jack Vandenberg, the love of her life and they were married on September 6, 1953. Jack and Pat lived in the Washington D.C. area, Lansing, and then moved to Fennville in 1988. In 1996 Pat moved to Holland after the death of her beloved husband Jack. Pat loved to play bridge and dining with friends and family, exercise and staying healthy. She was always a lady, and loved to travel the United States and abroad. Jack and Pat had a lovely mountain home in Pennsylvania for many years. They were very kind and close to their nieces and nephews, and left many wonderful memories of laughter and fun with the family. Surviving is her brother-in-law David and Marilee VandenBerg, sisters-in-laws Leone VandenBerg, and Geneva VandenBerg, also many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jack C. Vandenberg on December 10, 1993 and brothers and sisters-in-laws Geraldine and Andrew Jager, Bernice and Charles Pellegrom, Robert VandenBerg, and Theodore VandenBerg. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 8 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 p.m. till service time, at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI, with Pastor Tom VandenBerg officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Holland, Michigan.
