Mary L. Scholten, age 63, of Fennville, passed away peacefully, at her home on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Born March 13, 1949 in Allegan, Michigan, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Cloie (Roberts) Dykstra. She married Dale A. Scholten on June 14, 1969, and did interior design work for many years. In 1994, Mary and her husband Dale founded the, Open Door Worship Center, in Fennville, she was commonly referred to as Pastor Mary, and had a very important part in the church operations. Surviving is her husband Dale Scholten of Fennville, children; Dallas and Stacy Scholten of Holland, Heath Scholten of Fennville and Jana Scholten of Fennville, grandchildren; Mercedes, Serrana, Cadence, Kyrie, Kiana, Koen, sisters; Juanita and Victor Rigterink of Fennville, Veta and Lane Lohman of Hamilton, MI, sister-in-laws; Carol Dykstra Janice Dykstra, and Shirley Cenfield. Mary was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI, with Rev. Herbert Stewart and Rev. Robert Doorn officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorial donations may be made to the Open Door Worship Center P.O.
