Martha Mae Stanley (Mot)

1938 ~ 2023

Martha Mae Stanley (Giles) passed away on December 27, 2023, at the age of 85. Her final moments were spent in the home of her daughter, Penny, who held her hand as she left this world.

Born on May 10, 1938, in Butler, Missouri to Lester and Virginia Giles, Martha (Mot) was the youngest of four children. The family relocated to Fennville, Michigan in 1952 and Martha attended the local high school where she met Harold Stanley. The two were married on January 22, 1955, and went on to have 2 daughters, Penny, and Dawn.

Martha loved to create beautiful things, and through the years could often be found crafting, decorating stunning cakes, or creating lovely floral arrangements. Her fondness for floristry led her to open Four Seasons Flowers & Gifts in downtown Fennville where she served the local community for 15 years until her retirement.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Penny (David) Allen, and Dawn (Stan) Shelton; grandchildren Amber (Ken) Boyles, Derek (Jenna) Stevens, Giles Shelton, Lydia Shelton, and Grant Shelton; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Bryce, Noah, Braxton, and Aspen; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lester and Virginia Giles, her husband, Harold Stanley, and her siblings, Mary Church, Glenda Cagle, and Adrian (Bud) Giles.

A celebration of life will be held for Martha on January 13, 2024, at the Lakeshore Church of Christ located at 711 Butternut Dr. Holland, Michigan. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
