Marlene Joyce Higgins, age, 79, of Douglas, Michigan, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Grace of Douglas. Born July 14, 1931 in Union City, Michigan, she was the daughter of Clayton and Elmeda (Bailey) VanLeeuwen. Marlene was a retired nurses aid, working at the Douglas Hospital for many years, and she was also a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Saugatuck, MI. Surviving is her son Wayne and Hanna Bjorklund of Fennville, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sisters; Kay and Donald Forster of Allegan, MI and Estelle and John Mathias of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Higgins in 2007, and her son Wallace Bjorklund in 2010. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. till service time, at the All Saints Episcopal Church 252 Grand St. Saugatuck, Michigan.
