Obituary

Marjorie Mae Collins, 87, of Fennville passed away on April 7, 2007, at her home of 5l years in Fennville, Michigan. Born July 7, 1919, in Fennville, Michigan above the retail store owned by her parents James and Hazel Van Blois on the main street. Marge was always involved in her family, friends, church, community and business life. She and Bill Collins were owners of several businesses. including the first bowling alley in Allegan County. This was after starting a duck pin bowling alley business earlier. Later she started a new career in real estate at the young age of 50 until she was almost 76 years old. Her love of her family and people kept her actively involved in the local community. She was a scout leader for 9 years, helped students march in parades, and played cards monthly(bridge mostly) with a special group of women for almost 30 years. She loved the beach and sun-finding a way to lie in the sun on the coldest of spring and fall days-just because she could. She attended the Christian Science churches in Fennville and Saugatuck. That religion and her up bringing gave her a strong base of which to live a solid quality life. She was a good neighbor and was always grateful to have lived on the Lake Michigan shore line for over 51 years. She spent summers on Lake Michigan at her Father's cottages-Van Blois' Cottages whe she was younger. Marge Collins was a wonderful women, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. Her family believes she was so much more. She expected equality of others, both men and women. No matter what she always saw and faced. She only looked for the good and positive in other people and events. She never complained about her health even when she found out how ill she was. Her attitude was "it is in God's loving hands" and "that is life". She used those two phrases to help her focus on what was happening and face events head on. She was a gracious, elegant, and kind, person and had a cute smile every day of her life. She would wrinkle her nose at you when she was having fun or trying to find a nice way she disagreed with what you were saying or trying to get you to her to do. She had a spirit of live, hope, peace, and her ideas about life became part of the people around her. She loved to have a great positive attitude and focus on the future. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Collins of 63 years;, a grandson, Sutton Stevenson, a daughter, Tracy Bower. Surviving are her children Phil and Nedra Collins of Kalamazoo; Ron and Sandy Collins of Grand Rapids; Bill and Annette Collins of Flower Mound, Texas; Gail and Buzzy Klein of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren; pat Collins, Pete Collins, Cara Ayers-Brown, Trever Collins, Matt collins, Jim Collins, Tyrel Bower and Josey Bower, and great grandchildren, Smith Ayers, Nicolas Brown, Claire Brown, Micheal Collins, Jacob Collins and Alex Collins.
