Maria de los Angeles (Angelita) Rodriguez passed away, April 15, 2017. She was 84 years old. She died just hours before her beloved sister, Ignacia Martinez, 68, whom she cared for since their parents', Roman and Alejandra Martinez's, passing. They are preceded in death by their siblings, Jesus, Santiaga Almanza, and Maria de la Paz Hernandez and survived by their brothers, Lorenzo of Auburndale, FL, Alejo of Fennville, MI, Jose of Chiefland, FL, and Guillermo of Kalamazoo, MI. Maria was born in Mexico and immigrated to Texas in 1946 with her family. There she met and married Maximino Rodriguez. They settled in Fennville, MI in 1960. The couple celebrated 70 years of matrimony on December 24, 2016. Angelita loved to sing and was an active member of the congregation at San Felipe de Jesus where she served tirelessly for over 35 years with her husband, Deacon Maximino. She was small in stature yet a tower of strength with a tender heart. She lived to serve those around her; God, family, friends, and her church. Her ability to make everything and everyone around her flourish was not only evident in her garden but also her home, where all were welcome and always well fed. Maria was the heart and center for her 11 children, Maria de Jesus Rodriguez, Paula Sabala, Maximino, Jr., Francisco Sr., Luis, Jose, Noe, Delia Gracia, Ramiro, Rosalba Kupres, Rebeca Rodriguez; 25 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a 7:00 PM rosary at San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church, 5586 117th Ave., Fennville, MI 49408. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the church with Fr. Fabio Garzon officiating. Maria will be laid to rest in Taylor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Maria's name to San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com
