Obituary

LuVerne A. Muff, age 90, died on March 9, 2010 at the Lakeside Villa & Vista. He was born on March 12, 1919 in Columbus, Nebraska, to Alfred & Laura (Bartels) Muff. The family moved to Illinois in 1926, where Vern graduated from Thornton Township High School and later Junior College in Harvey, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On February 28, 1945, Vern married June DeRuiter. He was employed by The Buda Company in Harvey, IL, and later Amforge Inc., a Chicago division of Rockwell International. He retired in 1980, and June and Vern moved to Ganges Township, MI. Following June's death in 2001, Vern moved to Holland in 2003. He was the past commander of the Saugatuck American Legion and was a member of the Ganges United Methodist Church. His family includes his sister, Fern Kush of Sacramento, CA; nieces and nephews: Barbra Golaszewski of Frankfort, IL, Sharon McLain of Pinckney, MI, Valerie Schuffler of Arlington Heights, IL, Candice Sorenson of Oaklawn, IL, Pam LaCue of Chino Hills, CA, James Boudreau of Bollingbrook, IL, Louis Boudreau of Chandler, AZ, Gordon Grassle of Manteno, IL, and Stephen Muff of Mundelein, IL, and his church family at the Ganges United Methodist Church. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 12, from 12-1 PM at the Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville, MI, where the service will be held at 1 PM. Vern will be laid to rest next to June at the Plummerville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ganges United Methodist Church.
