Born on August 6, 1943, in Douglas, Michigan, Lowell's life was a rich tapestry woven with the love of family, the thrill of the hunt, and the beauty of nature.

Growing up in a family steeped in the traditions of fruit farming, Lowell carried on the legacy with pride and dedication. His early years on the farm instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep connection to the land. This connection would later extend to his love for raising cattle, a pursuit that brought him as much joy as it did challenges.

Lowell's professional journey led him to Rockwell, where he worked diligently until the company's closure. He then continued his career at Donnelly, from where he eventually retired. Throughout his life, Lowell's hands were rarely still, as he was always involved in something that required his unique blend of skill and perseverance.

Education was an important chapter in Lowell's life, as he studied Horticulture at Michigan Agricultural College (now known as Michigan State University) for a time. His studies further fueled his passion for the natural world and would become a cornerstone of his life's interests.

An active and engaged member of his community, Lowell was a lifelong member of the Fennville Rod and Gun Club. His love for hunting was well known, and he pursued bear, deer, and turkey with the same fervor and respect that he approached all aspects of his life. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and he was always ready to share a story or a piece of advice with fellow hunting aficionados.

Lowell's zest for life extended to the greens as well, where he enjoyed going golfing with friends and family. His competitive nature was always in good spirits, and his laughter could often be heard echoing down the fairways.

One of Lowell's most cherished traditions was the annual canoe trip on the Pine River. What started with a modest group of five people grew into a large and much-anticipated event under his guidance, spanning 48 years. These trips were a testament to Lowell's ability to bring people together and create lasting memories.

A true Spartan at heart, Lowell absolutely loved everything about the Michigan State University Spartans. Whether it was football, basketball, or any other sport, his unwavering support for the team was a defining aspect of his character.

Above all, Lowell was a family man. He is survived by his loving children, Lowell Jr. (Pamula) Winne, Jay (Jodi) Winne, and Donna (Russell) Gard. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chaz (Morgan) Winne, Brandin (Bill) Baird, Cierra (Nate) Onken, Brooke (Jeremy) Brink, McKenzie Winne, Samantha (Chase) Miles, Courtney Winne, Jasmine Gard, and Alayna Gard, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Hudson, Marynn, Adelynn, Sawyer, Lawson, Amelia, Emma, Jasper, Kaleb, Kohen, Zach, Ben.

Lowell was the beloved brother of Laddie (Vickie) Winne, Kay (Rich) Kool, and Leslie (Rebecca Crane) Winne. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl Winne and May Wightman.

Those who knew Lowell will remember him as an adventurous, passionate, and interesting man. His stories, his laughter, and his indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of his company.
