Louis Bernard Sytsma, age 85, of Fennville, Michigan, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Resthaven Care Center in Holland, Michigan. Born August 10, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Louis and Jessie (Hoekstra) Sytsma. A US Army Air Corp veteran, Louis was a food service consultant for Alex Janows Company till his retirement in 1989. He moved to the Fennville area in 1991 coming from South Holland, Illinois. Louis was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in South Haven and helped in the desiging of the new kitchen at the church, he was a member of the Fennville Lions Club, and assisted in the building of Paradise Park. Lou enjoyed spending time snow skiing, and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carmen (Sheets) Sytsma, and is survived by his wife Maureen Sytsma of Fennville, sons Richard and Carole Sytsma of Tinley Park, IL, Robert and Jan Sytsma of Waukesha, WI, and daughter Gail and Jim Napoli of Peotone, IL, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI, and funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Peace Lutheran Church 06321 Blue Star Hwy. South Haven, MI, with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating.
