Obituary

Linda Joan (DeVries) Oetman, age 54, of Fennville, Michigan, passed away on June 15, 2026. She was born on July 1, 1971, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to the late Robert and Jean DeVries.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She shared 11 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Jerry Oetman, and together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and steadfast support. Her greatest joy came from the people she loved, and she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Oetman; her children, Courtney and Jordan, and their children, Amiyah, Hayden, Tanner, Parker, and Lainey; Ricky and Wesley; Adrianna and Orlando, and their children, Sixto, Dominic, Maite, and Araceli; Brianna and Nate, and their children, Angel and Isaac; and Justin. She is also survived by her siblings, Marc and Debbie DeVries, and Lori and John Schmaltz. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Jim DeVries.

Linda earned an Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding, reflecting her commitment to learning and her desire to serve others with care and diligence. Her working life was spent helping people in meaningful ways. She served as a CNA at many local nursing homes, where her compassion and kindness touched the lives of residents and coworkers alike. She also worked for many years as a bus driver for Fennville Public Schools, where she became a familiar and trusted presence to countless students and families.

Outside of work, Linda enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. She loved crafting and found joy in creating with her hands. She also enjoyed camping, where she could relax and spend time with those she loved. One of her favorite pastimes was Jeep racing at Silver Lake, an activity she and Jerry shared. These interests reflected her fun-loving side and her appreciation for both creativity and adventure.

Though her passing leaves a deep void, Linda’s life stands as a beautiful reminder of the importance of family, hard work, and compassion. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren, in the hearts of her siblings and extended family, and in all who were blessed by her presence. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
