Leon D. Fleming, age, 93 of Tarpon Springs, Florida, formerly of Allegan, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at West Bay Rehab & Nursing, in Oldsmar, Florida. Born February 19, 1917, in Allegan County, MI, he was the son of Frank and Nancy (Silcox) Fleming. Leon, married Rosalie Starring on October 16, 1937, and lived in the Fennville and Allegan area for many years, working most of his life as a contractor, producing and selling road gravel, his other business ventures were as a turkey and fruit farmer, a beef herd farmer and owner of the Fennville True Value Hardware. In his retirement Leon and his wife spent winters in several locations in Florida, and summers in Michigan. In 2005 Leon moved permanently to Tarpon Springs, Florida. Surviving are his children; Lynn Fleming of Tampa, Fl, Gary and Diane Fleming of Allegan, MI, Nancy and Bill Miller of Allegan, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and his sister Elsie Bushee. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosalie, in 2005, brothers Burt, Ray, Art and Robert, and a great grandson Matthew. At his request cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Fedruary 19, 2011, at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI, with visitation from 12 noon till service time. Officiating will be Pastor Thomas Case. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Suncoast Hospice, 2675 Tampa Rd.
