Leo VanDerHulst, 81 of Holland, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Appledorn Assisted Living South in Holland, Michigan. Born March 3, 1941, in Holland, Michigan, he was the son of the late Albert and Alyda (Grotenhuis) VanDerHulst. Leo worked as a mechanic most of his life, though, since he loved it so much and was very talented at it, it never seemed like work. He was able to help out friends and family alike with his mechanical abilities. If he wasn't tinkering with tools, he enjoyed fishing, especially in the Gulf of Mexico. His enthusiasm for life made Leo a great person to be around. Leo is survived by his three brothers, Wayne (Kathy) VanDerHulst, Paul (Bonnie) VanDerHulst and Randy (Barb) VanDerHulst; his sister, Joan (Mike) VanderKooi; and his best friend for over 60 years, John Denuyl. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice of Grand Rapids for their compassion and care shown to Leo during his last days here on earth and a big thank you to Appledorn Assisted Living South for their constant attention and care while Leo was with them.
