Lela Kathleen Scott, 82, of Douglas, passed away Wednesday evening at the RestHaven Care Center in Holland after an illness of several years. She was born July 12, 1922 in Sharp County, Arkansas to John and Stella(Hart)Hill. She married Taylor O. Scott in Wabash, Indiana on July 20, 1964, and he preceded her in death in 1982. She had been a Douglas area resident since 1968 coming from Wabash, Indiana. Lela enjoyed flower gardening and sewing quilts. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Douglas Community Hospital as Head Cook. Survivors include a son: Lloyd Lanier of Hendersonville, Kentucky; a granddaughter; Michelle Butler and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Lois Ledford of Douglas and Leona Yates of Paragould, Arkansas; two brothers: Leonard Hill of Paragould and Jack Hill of Ft. Smith,Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Scott, a brother: Lawrence Hill and sister, Letha Yates. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Friday,August 13 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Chappell Funeral Home in Fennville. Funeral services will be at the Chappell Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14th at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dennis Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Fennville Cemetery.
