Obituary

Kolleen "Keeny" Crane, 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville, Michigan. Born May 26, 1923, in Lometa, Texas, Kolleen was the daughter of Charles and Fay (Christian) Lee. Kolleen, graduated Valedictorian from Midland High School in Midland, Texas, then attended Abilene Christian College. She married "Dick" Richard C. Crane, on February 18, 1944 and in early 1946, they moved to the family orchards in Fennville. As wife, mother and homemaker, she took pride in her family, home, church and community. She was always involved in her children's activities, at church, with Sunday School and VBS, she started 4-H as General Leader in the mid 1950's, and was active with Cub Scouts; Keeny loved to sing, and enjoyed sharing flowers and vegetables from her gardens. Kolleen is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Newcastle, Stevensville, MI, sons, Marshal (Heidi) Crane, Apple Valley, MN, John (Deb) Crane, Ooltewah, TN, and daughter-in-law, Lois Crane, Traverse City, MI; twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sr, son, Richard Jr., and brother, Thomas Doss. Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville, with a Celebration of Life to be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Community Church Douglas, MI.
