Kenneth D. Wieland, age 92 of Douglas, Michigan, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at American House of Holland. Born December 9, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan he was the son of Frank and Albertina (LeCompte) Wieland. Ken married his wife of 72 years, Virginia (Banks) Wieland on December 31, 1942. He was a WW II Army veteran, and lived in the Saugatuck/Douglas area for the past 63 years. Ken owned and operated Wieland Flowers in Saugatuck for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lions Club and past master of the Saugatuck Masonic Lodge. Ken loved his family and friends, working as a florist, spending time boating, and in his retirement oil painting and spending many winters in Florida. Ken was preceded in death by one son Kenneth (Doug) Wieland and two brothers. Surviving is his wife Virginia Wieland, daughters Sally and William "Bud" Naughtin, Sherry and David Schulz all of Douglas, Michigan, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brothers Roger Wieland and Merle Wieland both of Florida. Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 1-2pm followed by a memorial service, officiated by Fr. G. Corwin Stoppel at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville, MI. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
