Obituary

Josephine (Jo) Watts Feigles formally of Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania passed away in Fennville, Michigan. Jo, who was 104, died peacefully on May 25, 2016 which is also the day of her birth. While burial details are still to be worked out, she will be buried in Eagles Mere this fall. Jo was born in the small village of Eagles Mere, PA in 1912 to Harry Watts and Elsie McBride Watts. She had one brother and seven sisters, all of which preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Ron & Joy (Neal) Feigles, Sam & Charlotte (Wells) Feigles and daughter Joanna & Rich Weber, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Living over a span of 104 years, Jo had seen many changes in the world and had experiences in life few will have. As a small child, she remembered what happened when World War I ended. She recalled how the local church bells started ringing, the school children were excused from school and the people began gathering on the streets of the village. Speeches were made, a parade was held and she remembered how relieved and happy the people were that the war to end all wars was over. Jo graduated High School in Picture Rocks, a small town near Eagles Mere. The distance to get to school in those days was too great to commute daily to and from school. In order to be able to go to school, she boarded with a teacher's family and paid for it by doing laundry and tending the teacher's children. Jo will be remembered by her children for her excellent cooking and wonderful skills with growing plants. She will be remembered by her friends in Eagles Mere for her beautiful flower gardens and her work along with her brother Bud to form the now thriving Eagles Mere museum. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to those who continued to remember Jo over the years with cards, letters and special gifts. These meant a great deal to her and the family.
