Joseph J. Robbins, age 88, of Fennville, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Sojourner House in Kalamazoo. Born May 29, 1923 in Clinton Township, Michigan, he was the son of Fred and Sophia (Harms) Robbins. A graduate of Michigan State College, and a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran, he worked as a Lansing police officer for seven years, and then as a state probation officer for thirty two years. Formerly of Muskegon, he moved to the Fennville area in 1993. Joseph was a member of the Ganges United Methodist Church, and vary active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, he was a past president of the Reeths Puffer School Board, and a former trustee for many years. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Florence in 2003, and is survived by his children; James and Rosemary Robbins of Woodhaven, Michigan, Scott and Vicky Robbins of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bonnie Robbins of New York, NY, Nancy and David LeBeau of Summerville, SC, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home in Fennville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Ganges United Methodist Church, with Ms. Marcia Tucker officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Deepdale Cemetery Lansing, Michigan.
