John E. Petek, 62 of Glenn, MI passed away surrounded by his family at home on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer. John was born on April 15, 1954 in South Haven, MI he was the son of John C. and Margaret (Hamlin) Petek. John was employed by SAF Holland Hitch, and was planning to retire this year after 40 years. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish; also a huge fan of the Chicago White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Notre Dame. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret, grandparents Lloyd and Clara Hamlin, and Magdalene Scukanec. Surviving are his brothers David (Laurie) Petek, Mike (Judy) Petek of Glenn, sister Carol (Roger Strawser) of Glenn and Lakewood Ranch, FL., nieces Nicole Burrows (Allen), Danielle Petek, nephew Ryan Petek, and great niece Harlee Burrows. His nieces and nephews were the love of his life. John also has many friends, including John and Vicky Drapak, Frans and Deb Haumersens, Rick Nowak, the Feldmans, Mike Hutchins, Tammy, and many friends from SAF Holland Hitch. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 3-5 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville, funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in McDowell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland or the American Cancer Society. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com
