John Ortiz Sr., age 64, age of Fennville, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home. Born June 30, 1947 in Alfred, MN, he was the son of Geronimo and Francisca Ortiz. John lived in the Fennville area for many years, and worked as a vinegar maker at Heinz in Holland for 43 years, before his retirement. Surviving is his wife Maria Ortiz of Fennville, children; John Jr. and Erica Ortiz of Holland, Joe and Ginger Ortiz of Monroe, MI, Ernesto and Anna Ortiz of Fennville, Steven and Sofia Ortiz of Allegan, Rachel and David Hernandez of Fennville, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Joe and Alicia Ortiz of Donna, TX, Sister Catalina Ortiz of Weslaco, TX, half brothers Isidoro Ortiz, Ruben and Norma Ortiz, Ceaser Ortiz, Juan Jose and Eva Ortiz, half sisters Maria Sanchez, Angelita Baldemar Davila, Flora and Robert Torres. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Geronimo Ortiz and one sister Connie Ortiz. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, Michigan.
