John Winston Jr, age 83, of Holland, formerly of Pullman, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Holland Community Hospital. Born Dec. 24, 1925 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, he was the son of John and Emma Winston. John was a retired truck driver who lived in the Pullman area from 1970 till 2008 when moving to Holland, he served in the US Navy during WW II. Surviving is his son Ernest and Petra Winston of Stone mountain Georgia, grandson Marcus Winston, brothers; Julies and Nancy Winston of Freeport, IL, Mike and Ida Winston of Chicago, IL, Henry and Addie B Winston of Loraine, OH, Sisters; Emma Derring of Allegan, MI and Mearly Herring. Niece Bonita D. Sherman of Holland, MI, special niece he raised SGT Niya Jones, Nephew Jamasa Derring and Niece Sierra Derring, grand niece Talia and grand nephew Mikhai. He was preceded in death by his sister Rebecca and brothers Willy and Joe. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI with the Rev. Aaron Cobbs officiating. Visiting will be from 12 noon till service time on Friday, burial will be in Lee Cemetery, Pullman, Michigan.
