James Nelson Stuit, age 79, of Fennville, Michigan passed away at his home on Wednesday June 24, 2015. Born January 27, 1936 in Muskegon, Michigan, he was the son of Nelson and Ethel (Brink) Stuit. Jim operated Standard Oil in Fennville for many years before working as a general manager for CW Marsh until his retirement. Jim enjoyed working at Crane Orchards as a Professional Fruit Advisor. He was an active member of the community, a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, Fennville Rod and Gun Club, and chapter president of the WTF club. He is preceded in death by his first wife Suzanne on May 21, 1978, his parents and a sister. Surviving is his wife Judith Stuit of Texas; sons Matthew (Heather) Stuit of Marietta, GA, and Mark (Phillip) Stuit of Cassopolis, MI; daughters Devon (Larry) Stuit of Hamilton, MI, and Jane Stuit of Holland, MI; step-children Cassandra (Gene) Corvino, and Greg McCann of Charleston, SC; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is sisters, Shirley Stuit Langford, and Doris (Jack) Shafer. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 12 noon with a memorial service to start at 1:00 p.m., at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, Michigan, with Ms. Marcia Tucker officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Fennville District Library P.O. Box 1130 Fennville, MI 49408.
