James Melvin Sprouse, 63, of Fennville, MI passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Born November 13, 1957, in Marion, Indiana, he was the son of the late Frankie Rollen and Maylene (Porter) Sprouse. In March 1979 James married Debra Kaye Smith. Together they raised two children and shared over forty-one years of happy marriage. James had recently been looking forward to his retirement from Haworth with whom he had been employed for over thirty-years. He was an avid outdoorsman who love to go fishing, hunting and boating. James also enjoyed playing guitar. He always had a smile on his face and will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who would do anything he could to help his friends and family. His generous spirit will live on in the lives of those who received the ultimate Gift of Life from James after his passing. In addition to his wife, Debbie, James is survived by his children, Jonathan (Krista) Sprouse and Jennifer (Donnie) Drew; siblings, Bonnie Allen, Danny (Karen) Sprouse, Margaret (Victor) Parise and Shelby (Paula) Sprouse; grandchildren, Zakary, Logan S., Parker, Nicholas, Logan A., Avery, Donnie and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Sprouse; his brother-in-law, Robbie Allen; sister-in-law, Glenda Smith; and nephews, SSG Christopher Smith and Patrick Borst. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private services for immediate family only will take place Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Chappell Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Rick Jones of Riverside Chapel.
