Obituary

James E. McCracken, 83, of Pullman, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008. He was born on November 17, 1924 in Lawrence, Michigan to Versal & Nina (Johnson) McCracken. He was married June 5, 1948 to Doris (Laraway). Jim was the Postmaster of Pullman for 37 years. He proudly served his country in WW II in the US Army Signal Corps. Jim was also the post commander for the Pullman V.F.W hall. He served on the Lee Township Fire Department as Captain for 60 years. Jim was recently acknowledged as a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge as well as receiving a Bronze Star from US Representative Fred Upton. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt deer, turkey, fish, and trap muskrats. Surviving are his wife, Doris, daughter, Vicki-Lynn (Bob) Lindsey, Granddaughter, Angie (Chris) DeYoung, Great-Granddaughters, Grace & Madalyn who renamed him "Fisherman Bapa" two brothers, Bob (Phyillis) McCracken, Charles (Leah) Moses, sister, MaryLou Jungel and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his, James "Jimmy" McCracken and his brother, Versal "Mac" McCracken. The family will receive friends and family Monday, March 24, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home in Fennville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Mary Hoots officiating. Internment will follow at Lee Township Cemetery.
